Our office

Our office is open every Wednesday between 10.00 and 12.00. You find it on 1st floor at Skatval Handelslag (the Prix building).

Olav Vinge is in charge of the office. He will inform you about the activities of the Society, about arrangements and membership, and you may buy the Skatval Books and other publications and material.

In connection with the office we also have a room for storing old objects donated to the History Society.

The Book Committee 2007

The Book Committee is responsible for the edition of the Skatval Books.
Book IV was published in November 2005.

A short history of our Society

The Skatval Historical Society was founded at Østre Forbord on April 20, 1976. 12 persons were present. Arne Forbord was elected as the first President, with Petter Valstadsve, Olav M Fiskvik, Petter Nordland and John R Holan as board members, and Ragnhild Grønning and Arnt Steinvik as deputy board members. Arne Forbord put down a huge effort in the Society. He published among others the book "Skatval gjennom tidsaldrene" (Skatval through the Ages). Arne is the only Honorary Member of the Society until today. (2001) In collaboration with the other History Societies in the municipal and Meråker Historical Society we publish a Historical Annal.

Our Society and the other Historical Societies participates in preparing a plan for preserving cultural memories in the municipal. We are also participating in other activities in the area with the schools, church, sports club and other cultural institutions, activities we appreciate very much. We thank all members and others who have made it possible to run our Society.
